I applaud your commitment to supporting refugees & wondered whether you would consider including Nottingham & Notts Refugee Forum (NNRF) as a recipient of a donation from your organisation.
We are aware that you have already assisted one of the Syrian families that NNRF supports. We assist asylum seekers & refugees in the area with the many problems they face in re-building their lives.
WE currently have a Christmas giving campaign to raise money to support our community cafe that provides refreshments & hot meals to our clients ( cooked by volunteers), while they wait to see our advisers. We also support destitute asylum seekers via a food bank. If you would like more info, please visit our website.
I was delighted to see this happening and applaud you all for engaging with people seeking sanctuary. Please take a look at the City of Sanctuary website resources for health stream of sanctuary. Especially our refugee mental health resource pack. We’d like help to distribute this more widely to organisationsoke yours and also through CCGs etc – both the free downloadable PDF file and also the beautiful printed version. Please contact me for more information. I would love to support your organisation and I know you will be pleased to link with us in some way. Health care for people seeking sanctuary is of such importance but also a challenge.
This is great: it’s nothing to do with money (but obviously it is) more about creating a better kind of culture that doesn’t just raze to the ground the attempts refugees made to create businesses, show how they want to work and regain balance and dignity but in Calais they were seen off. Where are they now? Where they were has been ‘reconquere’ (the Sun) to become a wild ‘sanctuary’. Interesting, isn’t it that the area Calais refugees inhabited was previously used for bomb shelters in world war 2. I work in marketing with micro businesses and write a blog: signsofanopencity at https://opencitydesign.com Good luck with everything you’re doing and if you’d like an article about your work let me know. What are the signsofanopencity?
